Abstract

Islamic Religious Education (PAI) teachers have a very important role in fostering student discipline. The responsibility of PAI teachers is not only teaching religious material, but also includes moral development, habituation of positive behavior, and directing attitudes in accordance with the norms. This study aims to: 1) identify the level of student discipline of SD Negeri 1 Maron Garung Wonosobo, 2) analyze the role of PAI teachers in fostering student discipline, and 3) evaluate the supporting and inhibiting factors of the role. This study used a qualitative research method using a descriptive approach, with data collection techniques conducted through in-depth interviews with the Principal, PAI teachers, and several students, direct observation at school, and supporting documentation. Data analysis was carried out with the Miles and Huberman model, namely by data reduction, data presentation, and data conclusions. The results showed that: 1) Student discipline at SD Negeri 1 Maron Garung Wonosobo is good enough through participation in routine religious activities and punctual attendance, although there are still those who are less consistent. 2) PAI teachers play an important role in fostering student discipline through exemplary, habituation of religious activities, and a humanist mentoring approach. 3) Supporting factors in fostering student discipline include the existence of habituation programs, student journal books, teachers, and student awareness While inhibiting factors include the lack of worship facilities, lack of attention from parents at home, the influence of the surrounding environment, and not maximizing supervision and exemplary in the school environment.
