Abstract

Guidance and counseling plays a very important role in guiding and directing. In addition, the goal of guidance and counseling is to achieve the optimal development of students towards a more positive direction. This research aims to 1) determine the role of guidance and counseling in enhancing the memorization skills of the Qur'an in grade VIII 2) understand the application of guidance and counseling in supporting the tahfidzul Qur'an program and its contribution to the success of the tahfidzul Qur'an program. This study is descriptive qualitative which aims to describe the current ongoing situation. In other words, descriptive qualitative research aims to obtain information about the existing conditions, such as the role of guidance and counseling as well as its application in the tahfidzul Qur'an program for grade VIII at MTs Ma'arif Kertek. The data collection techniques used include interviews with grade VIII guidance counseling teachers, subject teachers, and several students, observations in the madrasah, as well as supporting documentation. Based on observations made by the author, it was found that counseling guidance plays an important role in building motivation, overcoming psychological barriers, and improving students' memorization consistency. The application of counseling guidance is carried out personally and in groups, proving to help students develop learning strategies and maintain enthusiasm in memorizing. With the support of guidance teachers and Tahfidz subject teachers, students show improvement in achieving memorization targets.
