Abstract

This article aims to explore the tradition of riyadhah "40 Days 40 Completions" practiced by the students at the Maqbarah of KH Muntaha Al-Hafidz and KH Asy’ari in Deroduwur, Mojotengah, Wonosobo (A Study on an Effective Method of Qur’anic Memorization Maintenance). This tradition, known locally as matangpuluh, involves completing all 30 juz of the Qur’an each day for 40 consecutive days as a form of spiritual discipline and an effective method for preserving Qur’anic memorization. The article adopts a qualitative approach, using a field-descriptive research design. Data were collected through observation, interviews, and documentation. The analysis involved data reduction, data presentation, and conclusion drawing. The findings reveal that the 40 Days 40 Completions tradition (matangpuluh) is proven effective in improving the quality of Qur’anic memorization among students. Participants of this riyadhah showed significant progress in their ability to perform muroja'ah (reviewing memorization), enhanced memory retention, spiritual resilience, and the development of key character traits such as patience, discipline, and closeness to Allah SWT. They were notably more capable of maintaining their memorization over the long term compared to those who did not participate in the program.
